If we learned anything during this pandemic, open collaboration could speed up the science dramatically. The open science approach's effectiveness convinced me to share our data using preprint servers before publication and always collaborate without reservation.

Science progresses when questions are answered. Questions are made when one tries to understand something. To fully understand a topic, one must see the bigger picture or look at it from different angles. Here is where diversity is key! I have a physical disability since I had a car accident when I was 12, and I have been every lab I have been working the first and only disable person for long time. Due to the long-term effects of Apartheid, black South Africans are severely underrepresented in almost all academic fields including neuroscience.
