I’m joining the ALBA Network to support a more inclusive neuroscience community and connect with like-minded scientists. I believe in promoting diversity and equity in science, and I value the opportunity to contribute to initiatives that foster representation, mentorship, and collaboration across disciplines and career stages.

I am joining ALBA because it is a group which helps uplifts under represented research communities and i applaud that. i am also joining to further my growth as a researcher, a female neuroscientist from an under represented community and because i am from a country where research benefits and funding is not as high in western countries (India). i hope i can gain something invaluable here that i can put in my research back in the community.

The forum empowers young scientists by promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration, sharing research findings, and fostering inclusivity. It organizes workshops and conferences, fostering connections for future collaborations. The forum encourages diverse perspectives, ensuring scientific advancements are applicable to diverse populations. It connects individuals with experienced professionals, breaking down barriers and promoting equal opportunities in science.

I am a Sikh neuroscientist working in Europe. Sikh scientists in the western world face numerous challenges due to their underrepresented status. These challenges range from a lack of representation, biases and stereotypes, the struggle to balance their religious and professional identities, and limited access to resources and networks. Addressing these challenges requires a collective effort from scientific communities, policymakers, and society as a whole to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all scientists, regardless of their background. Thus, ALBA network can provide such platform for many such underreprented groups. By becoming part of this network, not only I could represent myself better but also help other underrepresented brain scientists accross globe.

As a neuroscience scientist, the mission and goals of ALBA resonate deeply with my commitment to fostering equity and diversity in the field. ALBA's dedication to promoting best practices to counteract bias aligns seamlessly with my belief in creating an inclusive scientific community. The establishment of a Declaration of best practices and the curation of a centralized resource on bias and effective strategies will undoubtedly contribute to a more equitable landscape in brain sciences.

I believe in Alba's mission and in the value of its initiatives, and I think that the presence of this type of network is fundamental in our field, to support and uplift colleagues that face more difficult conditions.

I am joining ALBA because I believe in the necessity of integrating EDI concepts within Neuroscience, and science as a whole.

I am an environmental epidemiologist by training, investigating the effects of environmental exposures in early-life on the neurodevelopment of the child. I have experienced in both my personal life and professional carrier the importance of environmental justice and fighting for equities. Alba's mission relates well with my values.

For both my Master's and Bachelor's in Pharmacology, I worked on both neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders, focusing on developing drugs and testing in both in-vivo and in-vitro models. I have a passion towards research in translational neuroscience and bridging the gap between laboratory research and benchside applications in patients. I regularly visit the FENS website for news, oppportunities and collaborations and believe that this network would help me connect with like minded individuals and connect within a scientific community.

I have always promoted Neuroscience in all its ramifications in Africa. Joining The ALBA Network will give me more opportunities to enhance the promotion of Neuroscience at all levels in Africa (which has been disadvantaged).
