This EJN editorial is inspired by the work of the ALBA Disability and Accessibility Working Group, which advocates for greater visibility of scientists with disabilities and promotes best practices to ensure equity and inclusion within scientific institutions. It sheds light on the structural and cultural barriers disabled scientists continue to face, and offers concrete recommendations to create a more accessible and inclusive neuroscience community.
Are you looking for data on gender or racial disparities in funding, best practices to host more inclusive meetings, testimonials and insights from diverse scientists, or examples of institutional actions to support mental health and well-being? Find all this and more on the searchable ALBA database of over 1000 resources, curated and categorised by topic, type and group identity.
With this database, we hope to foster an environment of awareness and learning, support individuals and organisations in their DEI efforts, and promote best practices and tools to achieve equity and inclusion.
