The mission of Alba to raise awareness on gender and diversity issues in neuroscience is important to me. I would like to use my empowerment in neuroscience to support and promote the next generation of women and diverse brain scientists.

Why are you joining ALBA?” : “Convinced that a diverse and inclusive science is paramount, that we all still have progress to make to reach this ideal, and that together we will go further faster, I joined the ALBA network because I share the values its members uphold and wish to contribute to building together a caring and fulfilling environment essential to first-rate, rigorous, reproducible and high-impact research for the neuroscience community that will ultimately benefit society as a whole.

I joined Alba because I want to do my part and working toward a better science for everyone.

I met ALBA at the 35th ECNP in Vienna and I'm certain that we can collaborate to make a larger presence in Chile and the region.

As a FENS Kavli scholar alumni, the mission of ALBA is very close to my heart. I hope I can support its activities given my experience within the FKNE Network but also from being a woman, working in a field where women are highly underrepresented (Comp. Neuroscience) and in a country (Greece) where equality is still an issue not properly addressed at the highest levels of academia. My own Institute does not apply any gender equality policies and I would like to help change this.

There is still a long way to go to make science truly global and the scientific community as diverse and inclusive as the people in this planet. I hope that by joining ALBA, together with my other activities, including mentorship and directing TReND, I might contribute to bridge this gap.

I want to help building a supportive community and increase diversity in science.

My strong commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the international neuroscience community is the reason I am excited to join the ALBA Network. Having worked in a variety of educational and research environments on several continents, I am aware of the influence that a diversity of viewpoints can have on advancing scientific advancement. As a researcher and educator, the goals of the ALBA Network to advance inclusivity are in line with my own beliefs and experiences. I think that by joining this network, I will be able to support efforts that promote underrepresented communities in neuroscience in addition to growing my professional network. In addition, I intend to work with like-minded individuals to address some of the issues that the neuroscience community is experiencing, especially in terms of advancing worldwide access to education and cutting-edge research opportunities.

As a Latino woman, I am motivated to lead and promote neuroscience research among underrepresented minorities. An example of this commitment is highlighted in my published review summarizing and underlining the contributions of Latin America-based neuroscientists studying the interaction between stress and addiction (PMID: 30622500). Other examples are my close communication with scientists from Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Mexico and my participation in multiple events sponsored by the International Brain Research Organization, the Federation of Latin American and Caribbean Neurosciences and the Colombian College of Neuroscience. I am interested in expanding my network of researchers and collaborators, helping to guide me through the process of transitioning from postdoctoral fellow to an academic position, which would contribute greatly to my career development, and promote my own ambition of becoming an advocate for underrepresented neuroscientists.

I would like to contribute my expertise in supporting diversity in research in neuroscience and education. My research interest is in learning and memory. I am also interested in teaching and public engagement. I hope to bring research to more under represented groups.

To increase my knowledge, learning, and networking to drive DEI goals as the manager of a computational neuroscience center.
