My strong commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the international neuroscience community is the reason I am excited to join the ALBA Network. Having worked in a variety of educational and research environments on several continents, I am aware of the influence that a diversity of viewpoints can have on advancing scientific advancement. As a researcher and educator, the goals of the ALBA Network to advance inclusivity are in line with my own beliefs and experiences. I think that by joining this network, I will be able to support efforts that promote underrepresented communities in neuroscience in addition to growing my professional network. In addition, I intend to work with like-minded individuals to address some of the issues that the neuroscience community is experiencing, especially in terms of advancing worldwide access to education and cutting-edge research opportunities.

I'd like to be more involved in making the neuroscience community more diverse and inclusive.

I am joining Alba to raise awareness about the problems that underrepresented groups face in science even nowadays.

To support the message of increasing equity in neuroscience.

I have cerebral palsy and trying to speak up for researchers with disabilities. In June 2022, my story was published in Science; and in October 2023, I will speak at the Career Development Session "Increasing inclusion in neuroscience" at ECNP Congress.

In the current era it is pivotal to advocate for diversity and equity, not only in science but in all society. By joining forces in scientific field we will be setting the example for all society to change.

Because I am sure that a better science environment can be achieved by increasing diversity and giving a chance to minorities to speak up and put new ideas in debate. Therefore, I would like to participate discussions in a space that also has this philosophy.

To contribute to efforts aiming at giving visibility to underrepresented scientists.

As racialized person working in science it becomes evident that the problem of the underrepresentation of minority groups is not an exception in this field. International networks with extensive diffusion seem key to me to give visibility and address collective solutions to this problem.

As a Latino woman, I am motivated to lead and promote neuroscience research among underrepresented minorities. An example of this commitment is highlighted in my published review summarizing and underlining the contributions of Latin America-based neuroscientists studying the interaction between stress and addiction (PMID: 30622500). Other examples are my close communication with scientists from Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Mexico and my participation in multiple events sponsored by the International Brain Research Organization, the Federation of Latin American and Caribbean Neurosciences and the Colombian College of Neuroscience. I am interested in expanding my network of researchers and collaborators, helping to guide me through the process of transitioning from postdoctoral fellow to an academic position, which would contribute greatly to my career development, and promote my own ambition of becoming an advocate for underrepresented neuroscientists.

Bacause I support the role and leadershipt that they take to make all different under represented groups visible in the scientific field.
