Membership

As a Latino woman, I am motivated to lead and promote neuroscience research among underrepresented minorities. An example of this commitment is highlighted in my published review summarizing and underlining the contributions of Latin America-based neuroscientists studying the interaction between stress and addiction (PMID: 30622500). Other examples are my close communication with scientists from Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Mexico and my participation in multiple events sponsored by the International Brain Research Organization, the Federation of Latin American and Caribbean Neurosciences and the Colombian College of Neuroscience. I am interested in expanding my network of researchers and collaborators, helping to guide me through the process of transitioning from postdoctoral fellow to an academic position, which would contribute greatly to my career development, and promote my own ambition of becoming an advocate for underrepresented neuroscientists.

I want to support equity in Neuroscience

I would like to contribute my expertise in supporting diversity in research in neuroscience and education. My research interest is in learning and memory. I am also interested in teaching and public engagement. I hope to bring research to more under represented groups.

I wish to get research contacts and to apply for conference grant ,to present my breakthrough findings and to transmit them into neuroscience collaborations and postdoctoral research.

As Ph.D. student I had the possibility to observe how cultural bias can negative affect the research in neuroscience and the working and personal life of neurosciantists. I want to give my contribution in order to make science a more inclusive environment.

I was nominated by my supervisor to become a representative. I am also curious to know more about the Alba network, and contribute to the mission of the organization.

I listened to your sessions during FENS2020 and really liked the mission of what ALBA is aiming to achieve.

I would like to be connected with people around the world specialized in brain

I have been an elected student representative of our Bio faculty's equalty council for more than 3 years now, fighting for equal opportunities and diversity within my university. I would now like to take my efforts outside my institution and promote these ideas more globally. I would furthermore like to connect with similar-minded Neuroscientists of all levels in Academia, especially in light of the current pandemic's challenges on international networking.
It would be a joy and an honour to join the ALBA network and be a part of this much needed change!

I would like to learn and take active take part in activities which can be done for increasing visibility of minorities.

As a female graduate student from China, I would like to join ALBA to promote the ethnical diversity and gender equality in brain research community.
