The Network

ALBA represents a global diverse network of individual neuroscientists who are involved in research, education, communication and advocacy, and are committed to supporting and advocating for actions and policies that foster diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in brain sciences across the globe. We currently have 1890 individual members from 91 countries.

I joined ALBA because :
I strongly support organizations and individuals that raise awareness about, and work to change, cultural and gender biases which unfairly disadvantage underrepresented groups in neuroscience. I am interested in both learning how to recognize and unlearn my own biases and lending my support to support organizational change.

I joined ALBA because :
I want to join ALBA because I believe its mission is crucial for the advancement of science and society. I'm from Argentina and completed my bachelor's, Master's, and PhD in Europe. I'm concerned about the disparities in scientific opportunities that people encounter based solely on where they're born. I genuinely think that both the scientific community and society stand to gain from promoting greater visibility and providing equal opportunities for researchers from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

I joined ALBA because :
As a first step to support a cause I consider extremely important and usually only discuss with peers. I want to be able to contribute to somehow counteract the existing bias towards women in science since it affects so many people in a lot of unexpectedly, and sometimes inconspicuous, unfair ways!
