I am a female PhD scholar in the field of psychology and neuroscience from a developing country, India. As an early career female researcher from India, I do not have the financial resources or the access to advanced state of the art facilities I wish to join ALBA to gain access to the various networking and mentoring opportunities to enhance my career in neuroscience.

I joined ALBA because I deeply resonate with its mission to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in the brain sciences. As a psychologist and doctoral researcher who has personally navigated academia with a learning difference (dyslexia), I understand how vital it is to create spaces where diverse cognitive and cultural experiences are not only accepted but valued. ALBA represents a community that is actively working to change the culture of science, not just through statements, but through real, sustained action. That inspires me. I wanted to be part of a network where I could both contribute and grow: by learning from others, supporting inclusive initiatives, and helping make neuroscience more accessible, especially for those who’ve historically been marginalised or overlooked. For me, joining ALBA is not just a professional choice — it’s a personal commitment to building the kind of scientific community I want to belong to.

Heard about it from a friend, thought it is a great initiative to support minorities and give every person in neuroscience a voice!

I am joining Alba network because I believe equality is very important in any fields and I am happy to contribute to connect with people who share the same interest. ALBA is an excellent opportunity to promote not only equality and diversity, but also quality in science.

I would like to have the opportunity to connect to neuroscientists from different places.

I am passionate about integrating authentic equity and inclusion within neuroscience research, regardless of field of research or analytical approach. I hope to support colleagues from marginalised backgrounds to feel welcomed and thrive in neuroscience.

To network with women in STEM and improve my science communication skills.

I actively support and encourage equality, diversity, and inclusion within academia. As A female Iranian immigrant to the UK, I know first-hand how difficult it can be to feel accepted as a member of the scientific community, therefore, I always look to be engaged with society and develop my networking.
