I joined ALBA because :
Because I want to engage in collective action for diversity, equity and inclusion in neuroscience. As a cis-white male with a professorship in Germany, I understand it as my duty to work twice as hard for this cause, given the undeserved privilege that I am treated with. At the same time, as a person with disability (severe hearing loss), I have experienced exclusion and can identify underlying mechanisms.

I want to join Alba as it is a global diverse network of individual neurosciences. I am an early-career female neuroscience researcher coming from Kazakhstan and studying in Germany. My ethnic group is underrepresented in Germany and I am eager to join a community committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. I would cherish an opportunity that the ALBA network can provide and am also eager to contribute.
