The Network

ALBA represents a global diverse network of individual neuroscientists who are involved in research, education, communication and advocacy, and are committed to supporting and advocating for actions and policies that foster diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in brain sciences across the globe. We currently have 1890 individual members from 91 countries.

I joined ALBA because :
Joining Alba to me means being part of a network that understands the importance of inclusion and equity in STEM. It also means working on the reflection surrounding the evolution of society and our work environment. As part of the Femmes&Sciences association, I am already participating in the reflection around the importance of science in national education, today I would like to join a network more specific to my discipline which is neuroscience.

I joined ALBA because :
Science will only grow if we do it altogether. More people, more views, more ideas: diversity is a key component to achieve this. Unfortunately, the world of today is still unfair with minority groups and neuroscience does not escape from this reality. Promoting diversity requires direct actions and engagement, and that is why I would like to join this ambitious and necessary initiative.

I joined ALBA because :
I am joining Alba because my values align greatly with its mission. I believe that it's crucial to actively fight to make research and the society as a whole more inclusive. Especially in today's political climate where more and more countries' governments are adopting a conservative exclusionary view, we must continue to advocate for an equal representation across all fields. While there has been a positive change in the field of brain sciences in recent years, we still have a long way to go until the representation of people from different backgrounds is truly equal. Organisations such as Alba are very much necessary to fulfill this mission.
