The Network

ALBA represents a global diverse network of individual neuroscientists who are involved in research, education, communication and advocacy, and are committed to supporting and advocating for actions and policies that foster diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in brain sciences across the globe. We currently have 1890 individual members from 91 countries.

I joined ALBA because :
As a woman and a last-year PhD student, I have already encountered the gender bias and underrepresentation of minorities that pervade the academic world. My deep interest in science communication and public engagement drives me to address these issues both within and beyond academic institutions. Joining the ALBA network will provide me with the education and resources needed to better understand these challenges. Moreover, I aim to contribute to raising awareness and actively participate in fostering the change I wish to see in academia and beyond.

I joined ALBA because :
I came to know about ALBA because I was able to attend lectures by Prof. Carmen Sandi. The efforts of your network in an inclusive approach in neurosciences are remarkable, and I wish myself, at my level, and in my field of activity "cancer and brain" to get involved.
In the past, I was able to give conferences in Algeria and Tunisia and I was very touched by the enthusiasm of the young women researchers, their extreme motivation and also the humanity we shared, something that is currently lacking in our labs.
I train a number of Masters, PhD students and post-docs and should be in capacity to help, welcome students, organize meetings...

I joined ALBA because :
Joining Alba to me means being part of a network that understands the importance of inclusion and equity in STEM. It also means working on the reflection surrounding the evolution of society and our work environment. As part of the Femmes&Sciences association, I am already participating in the reflection around the importance of science in national education, today I would like to join a network more specific to my discipline which is neuroscience.
