The Network

ALBA represents a global diverse network of individual neuroscientists who are involved in research, education, communication and advocacy, and are committed to supporting and advocating for actions and policies that foster diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in brain sciences across the globe. We currently have 1890 individual members from 91 countries.

I joined ALBA because :
I am a founding and active member of the XX Initiative engaging for gender equity at the Paris Brain Institute (Schreiweis et al., Nat Hum Behav, 2019). Also, as a member of the gender equity committee of our institute, I have contributed to establish a charter for gender equity together with the institute's directors. As a former L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women In Science postdoctoral laureate, an ambassador for the program "For Girls in Science" and other educational programs, I am excited to join the ALBA network in search of fostering national as well as international bonds with colleagues, who are engaged on the topic.

I joined ALBA because :
The ALBA network provides a great opportunity to interact and learn from well-establish scientists around the world who share a common ground with early-career scientists from underrepresented groups. After my undergraduate and graduate studies, I felt some kind of void when prospecting myself in a future career. Mostly as the result of being a gay queer and Afro-Latino scientist, who has done research across five countries and, still, has poorly seen a significant representation of minorities in neurosciences. The ALBA network brings a substantial level toward the change of the landscape for the scientific and social representation in neurosciences.
