The Network

ALBA represents a global diverse network of individual neuroscientists who are involved in research, education, communication and advocacy, and are committed to supporting and advocating for actions and policies that foster diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in brain sciences across the globe. We currently have 1890 individual members from 91 countries.

Born and grow in Latin America, the most unequal continent in the world, but with 10 (great) years of academic experience in Germany, I fell I know what inequity means, at least in Latin America.
From there and as a scientific man of a patriarchal scientific system, I wish and rather I feel the duty to contribute.

Brain sciences have been dominated by WEIRD brains (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich and Democratic). Most times, also male and cisgender. For me, joining a network of scientist and science communicators who actively work to reverse those biases is important both professionally and personally, because I don't tick all those boxes.
