Brazil is a country that shows a lack of resources for research, making it challenging to perform projects and also reflecting a deficiency in building capacity. Therefore, there is a need to train more researchers to provide autonomy to analyze their data. Language difficulties can be an obstacle to learning, so courses in our language or with translation would be a pronounced help. Some regions of Brazil are also socioeconomically disadvantaged, which makes research almost incipient in these regions. Teaching researchers how to raise funds and conduct external collaborations would be essential. ALBA will support the goals of advancing inclusivity and promoting diversity in science, encouraging diverse perspectives in brain science and supporting equity to contribute to important scientific discoveries in neuroscience. So, joining ALBA would be an excellent way to contribute to these efforts to promote a more equitable and diverse global scientific community.

I'm really impressed with this Network and wondering how I hadn't come across with it before! The content that I've found here is simply inspiring - especially for being a woman. Getting to know the story of successful women brain scientists motivates me!

I am interested in joining ALBA because I am passionate about contributing to the advancement of neuroscience in a global context. ALBA's commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion aligns with my values, and I believe in the power of a diverse and inclusive community to drive meaningful progress in brain sciences. I am eager to connect with neuroscientists from around the world, share insights, and actively participate in initiatives that promote positive change in the field. ALBA's emphasis on research, education, and advocacy resonates with my professional goals, and I look forward to collaborating with like-minded individuals to make a meaningful impact on the future of brain sciences.

I am a Brazilian LGBT woman and would like to be part of initiatives that support people like me or other less-represented groups in the neuroscience field and establish connections with people with the same purpose from different places around the world.

It’s common to hear about colleagues who have grown in such a hostile environment that they’re not able to stay in academia. Joining ALBA would allow me to be in a support network for myself and others, as well as advocate for a non-aggressive and non-hostile environment.

Once I am part of underrepresented groups and that several barriers have arisen and still arise in my career in neurosciences, I intend that participation in the Alba community will help me understand such differences, give a voice and open paths for the next generations.

I would like to joining in Alba Network because I am feeling represented by this group. Moreover, I believe that this type of iniciative will giving more spaces for underepresentative people, such Latin American women. I am also interested in the topics that are discussed by the group and I would like to be part of it.

Since one of Alba's missions is to give better visibility to groups that are underrepresented in brain research, as I do research in Latin America, I came to try to seek greater visibility for my country.

As a first-generation, Black Brazilian aspiring to an academic career in neuroscience, I am joining Alba to connect with a diverse and supportive community that understands the unique challenges faced by underrepresented groups in academia. I believe in the power of networking and shared experiences to overcome barriers and promote inclusivity in science. Being part of Alba will allow me to access valuable mentorship, resources, and collaborations, helping me grow both professionally and personally while contributing to a more diverse and inclusive neuroscience community.

Because I am sure that a better science environment can be achieved by increasing diversity and giving a chance to minorities to speak up and put new ideas in debate. Therefore, I would like to participate discussions in a space that also has this philosophy.

I believe that every initiative of inclusion and equity must be encouraged and supported. ALBA is important to this aim and I would like to contribute the best I can

I also believe in the mission to improve visibility for under represented groups. Being a part of this group I understand that it is more difficult to achieve certain goals since finantial incentive is low.
