I have been on Alba's mailing list for quite some time. I thoroughly enjoy the webinars and have also applied for the grant to attend FENS Forum 2024. Being part of a network that connects scientists from around the world and supports minorities sounds like a fantastic opportunity.

I aim to do a good impact and be part of the development of neuroscience, but been a LGBTQA+ woman from a very poor background makes that objectives harder to achieve. Became a Alba member can help to facilitate this process.

I've heard about Alba for the very first time at IBRO's World Conference in Granada. There was a booth where some very intelligent women explained to me the whole purpose of Alba and that I should join it. Ever since I've been thinking about it. I think I belong to Alba because my committed nature has made me a very hard-working student and it has led me to leave the country to finish my Ph.D. outside my original country: Brazil. I was awarded a scholarship to live abroad for one year with all costs covered by the federal government. This is how much my country believes and invests in my education. Not everyone can say that where I come from. Also, I hope that in the future I can teach in Brazil everything I learned around the world and return all the investment spent on my education in the form of knowledge for future generations.

In conclusion, my path can be more difficult for being a woman, Latina, queer, from a middle-incoming country and many other difficulties, but I'm still making space for myself and for future female neuroscientists. If I can make it, they can make it too. However, nobody achieve great results alone and I think that's why I belong with Alba.

I’m a Master and PhD Student in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. I have been working on an investigation of oxidative stress, bioenergetics, mitochondrial quality control and interactions between mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum in different models of Huntington’s Disease and inherited metabolic disorders.

I am applying for ALBA membership to help boost my career as a neuroscientist in Brazil. At the institution I am part of, unfortunelly, there are few opportunities to exchange information or visit other laboratories, or even learn other techniques to implement here at our context, so I believe that ALBA could provide opportunities for my scientific enrichment.

I am joining ALBA to support the promotion of diversity in neuroscience and to apply for a Travel Fellowship to attend FENS Forum 2024.

To participate in activities and initiatives that help me acquire new skills and knowledge related to my field. To expand my professional networking and opportunities that are few for scientists from South American countries.

I first heard about Alba by a colleague and friend from my University. I became interested and researched about the Mission and goals of this community. I feel that this kind of network is really important in all areas, and I would like to join and be part of this community helping as much as I can to disseminate its valuble principles.

I’m joining Alba because I strongly believe in its mission to promote equity and inclusivity in brain science. As someone deeply committed to both neuroscience research and social impact, I see Alba as a unique platform where I can connect with like-minded individuals, contribute to meaningful discussions, and actively work toward creating a more inclusive and diverse scientific community. I’m excited to learn from others, share my experiences, and help advance equity across all stages of scientific careers and collaborations.

I am an early career researcher from Brazil investigating immune mechanisms in psychosis to identify better treatments. I wish to join Alba to increase my scientific network, have the opportunity to participate in international conferences and disseminate my research outcomes internationally.

I am a young scientist, my first language is not English, so the opportunity to be a member of a society that seeks out underdeveloped countries and helps these researchers to disseminate their research in the academic community is an important point in my goal. As well as participating in scientific events outside my home country that are so expensive and sometimes inaccessible for PhD students. So, I would be very happy if I became a member of ALBA because it could impact my career to acquire networking opportunities and establish contact with researchers and professionals.

As a female young researcher/professor from an developing country, I would like to actively contribute to make the neuroscience field more equitable and accessible to all underrepresented groups.

I have been looking to be part of a group that has the aim to think about scientific life, scientific difficulties and how to survive to life challenge. I believe I will found it in ALBA.

I would like to be part of the Alba network due to its important work in promoting equity and diversity in the brain sciences. As a member of underrepresented group, its is important to receive the support given by the Alba team to recognize scientifc contributions and provide mentoring opportunities to promote careers and improve scientific research.

I am planning to apply to the ALBA prize in 2025.

I firmly believe and support initiatives for equity and inclusion. Alba network has already represented a strong leadership in advocating for under represented groups in neuroscience. I also have been recently benefited from one of ALBA's action. As a young researcher fellow I think it is interesting to have some guidance and mentorship, and can further contribute to promote e foster local initiatives.
