The Network

ALBA represents a global diverse network of individual neuroscientists who are involved in research, education, communication and advocacy, and are committed to supporting and advocating for actions and policies that foster diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in brain sciences across the globe. We currently have 1890 individual members from 91 countries.

I joined ALBA because :
I want to join this collective because I think that equity is very important, and currently there are many groups that are not represented; from gender, sexual orientation or religion. I want to contribute what I can so that this is not the case and we evolve to a more just society, and neuroscience.

I joined ALBA because :
I would love to join Alba as I learn how this organization fights to provide equal rights to everyone who wants to research. This is one of my personal goals as a scientist. I love to understand how the brain works but above that, I would love to help everyone to pursue their dreams as I am doing myself. Particularly the minorities.

I joined ALBA because :
I am very interested in multiple of ALBA initiatives and want to support the network. Specific topics i am interested in are for example access points to science. In my lab we accept many interns especially from underrepresented groups and have noticed that such internships can be critical access points but that funding for such internships is difficult to find. I recently established the Radboud Gateway Fellowship that allows 3 students per year from underrepresented countries to come to our Uni for internships. Last years round has already led to success with 2 fellows getting into European graduate programs and 1 getting a paid internship in Europe (of 4 fellows)
