I want to join the ALBA Network because I am deeply committed to promoting EDI in academia. ALBA's mission perfectly aligns with my current mission to create awareness of issues such as bias and discrimination in academia. I address these issues through the discussion groups I have initiated and led at UCL. My efforts are recognized by my colleagues, who actively participate in discussions and have started advocating for a more inclusive and safe environment. As a member, I aim to enhance my ability to advocate for EDI, access resources, empower other researchers, and perhaps represent those from under represented groups.

As in the rest of the world, being a female scientist in Turkey is challenging. However, conducting science in Turkey is challenging on its own. Finding resources, developing projects, and advancing academically are all difficult and time-consuming tasks. To improve and do proper science, I am receptive to any support.

I joined ALBA because :
My current research is based on Parkinson's disease. PD is a motor disorder associated with the dopaminergic neurodegeneration in substantia nigra pars compacta. The objective of my research is to formulate nanoparticles of the gold-containing compound to improve its bioavailability in rat brains. . Considering the motive of this program which is to inspire and educate early-career neuroscientists and emerging researchers entering the neuroscience community. I would gain knowledge and experience regarding various neuroscience workshops and conferences. Since I am a research scholar, I do not have funds to cover travel expenses of international conferences, joining ALBA will help me to apply for such conferences.

I joined ALBA because :
I recently learned about Alba via Twitter. I am a cognitive psychologist working in France and I have been dealing with major health problems for 10 years and my health problems have now lead to me being recognized as having a disability. I am trying to be active in France to help researchers with disabilities but it is proven to be very difficult for many different reasons. This is why I decided to join as I found your initiative fantastic. I am also a women with children and this also had an impact on my carrier and I am very much aware of gender discrimination.
