The Network

ALBA represents a global diverse network of individual neuroscientists who are involved in research, education, communication and advocacy, and are committed to supporting and advocating for actions and policies that foster diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in brain sciences across the globe. We currently have 1890 individual members from 91 countries.

I joined ALBA because :
As a neuroscientist, I will benefit from the meetings and events of the ALBA network. I am excited to be part of this wonderful network of neuroscientists. I believe I can contribute to the ALBA network by participating and organizing events in India, which is not very well represented in the world when it comes to neuroscience research. I have recently started my independent career, building my lab, so I believe the mentoring programs will be useful for me. And the interactions with the members of ALBA will open up the possibilities for collaboration on projects and grants.

I joined ALBA because :
As part of an underrepresented community, I encounter challenges as a first-generation university student. Pioneering higher education in my family, coupled with belonging to historically marginalized racial, ethnic, or caste groups, and facing language barriers, shapes my unique academic journey. These factors underscore my commitment to addressing systemic disparities and dismantling barriers for future generations. Hope Alba also supports my favorite quote: "The color of your soul is more important than the color of your skin." — Matshona Dhliwayo

I joined ALBA because :
While being a neuroscientist working in France, I had the chance during my carreer to meet and work with fellows from diverse parts of the world and from underrepresented countries or groups. I do believe that unlocking the code of the Brain does require to veawe together all forces independently of geopolitical issues or gender. Yet, despite many progresses we still need to empower brain Science to be Diverse, Equitable and Inclusive. This mission is even more evident nowadays as we are facing a strong menace in many countries where scientists from underrepresented groups are persecuted or stopped in their studies or research. Therefore I want to add my voice to the important mission of ALBA.
