I joined ALBA because :
I am a gay Afro-Latin man living in Canada, originally from Salvador, Bahia—the city with the largest Black population outside of Africa. I left Brazil due to severe funding cuts and the ongoing dismantling of public research institutions, driven by my passion for scientific research. As someone who represents multiple minority identities, I believe that connecting with a support network—especially one focused on neuroscience—can be incredibly valuable for advancing my career and building relationships with others who share similar backgrounds and experiences.
