The Network

ALBA represents a global diverse network of individual neuroscientists who are involved in research, education, communication and advocacy, and are committed to supporting and advocating for actions and policies that foster diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in brain sciences across the globe. We currently have 1890 individual members from 91 countries.

I joined ALBA because :
I was introduced to Alba during a FENS meeting, in which I presented my PhD work. Alba increased my awareness to make science (and neuroscience) more inclusive, more responsible and more sustainable. As a dark-skin young woman passionate about science, I want to inspire younger generations to pursue their passion and gain higher academic position without their gender or their look acting as a barrier.

I joined ALBA because :
I fully support the aim of ALBA to increase visibility of underrepresented groups' s I see that teh groups of brain researchers around me are very homogenous.

I joined ALBA because :
I actively support and encourage equality, diversity, and inclusion within academia. As A female Iranian immigrant to the UK, I know first-hand how difficult it can be to feel accepted as a member of the scientific community, therefore, I always look to be engaged with society and develop my networking.

I joined ALBA because :
As an MD-PhD trainee researching sleep, affective, and cognitive changes across the menstrual cycle in psychiatric populations, I am deeply committed to advancing diversity in brain sciences—both in the communities we study and among the scientists conducting this research. By joining ALBA, I hope to connect with like-minded individuals and contribute to advocacy efforts that promote diversity—not only in who is doing the science, but also in the perspectives and questions being explored.
