I joined ALBA because :
I am a middle aged woman working in neuroscience in Eastern Europe. As such, I was feeling that I face many inequalities during my scientific work. Consequentially, I appreciate a lot any activity and attempt for decreasing inequalities. ALBA network was the first group I found to work on this ground. After meeting and discussing with Professor Carmen Sandi last week, and after she invited me to join the network, I decided to join.

As a neuroscientist, I will benefit from the meetings and events of the ALBA network. I am excited to be part of this wonderful network of neuroscientists. I believe I can contribute to the ALBA network by participating and organizing events in India, which is not very well represented in the world when it comes to neuroscience research. I have recently started my independent career, building my lab, so I believe the mentoring programs will be useful for me. And the interactions with the members of ALBA will open up the possibilities for collaboration on projects and grants.

As part of an underrepresented community, I encounter challenges as a first-generation university student. Pioneering higher education in my family, coupled with belonging to historically marginalized racial, ethnic, or caste groups, and facing language barriers, shapes my unique academic journey.
