The mission of ALBA network, which focuses on promoting equity and diversity in the neuroscience community, aligns with my conviction that building fostering environments allow for any individual to be given the opportunity to fulfill their goals with fair treatment independent of their ethnic background and beliefs.

I heard about the ALBA network from colleagues and wanted to become a member. As an LGBTQIA+ individual myself, I consider promoting open inclusion of diversity an important mission that I want to take part in.

As a first-generation, Black Brazilian aspiring to an academic career in neuroscience, I am joining Alba to connect with a diverse and supportive community that understands the unique challenges faced by underrepresented groups in academia. I believe in the power of networking and shared experiences to overcome barriers and promote inclusivity in science. Being part of Alba will allow me to access valuable mentorship, resources, and collaborations, helping me grow both professionally and personally while contributing to a more diverse and inclusive neuroscience community.

I wish to contribute to a world where diversity of all kinds is valued and shared towards the common good.

Because I am sure that a better science environment can be achieved by increasing diversity and giving a chance to minorities to speak up and put new ideas in debate. Therefore, I would like to participate discussions in a space that also has this philosophy.

As a woman in neuroscience, I am acutely aware of the gender disparities that persist in our field. The underrepresentation of women not only limits the diversity of perspectives but also hampers the collective progress of neuroscience. I am motivated to apply to a network devoted to equity in neuroscience because I believe in the transformative power of fostering an inclusive environment. By actively participating in a network committed to equity, I aim to contribute to breaking down barriers, advocating for equal opportunities, and empowering women in neuroscience. This network serves as a platform for collaboration, mentorship, and the exchange of experiences, allowing us to collectively address and overcome the challenges faced by women in our field. Through my involvement, I aspire to be a part of the positive change needed to create a more equitable and diverse landscape in neuroscience, ultimately enriching the scientific community with a broader range of talents and perspectives.

I am a strong proponent for disseminating equality in science. I am already working towards several efforts for this including the PhD association in my university, boards at university of Helsinki and also am a leader in 500womenscientists organization

I am passionate about creating an equal and supporting a diverse community within neuroscience.

Equal opportunities for everyone is in the best interest of Science. The greater the diversity, the more interesting the outcome.

I believe that diversity is a richness for Science and I support every project aimed at its sustain.

I have observed attitudes and biases (whether deliberate or not) in my field which I believe actively narrow scientific perspectives and harm the discipline. Put simply, I am looking for a network to combat this, as I feel it will serve fellow scientists and the field at large.

Alba is a pioneering platform for neuroscientists to advocate for a diversity and inclusion in our network of scientists, and has driven noticeable and necessary changes in the visibility of these issues. I would be very happy to contribute to this as part of a structured organisation whose actions are as far reaching.

I come from a multi-racial, multi-ethnic family, instilling in me a belief in social and racial integration. However, academia's institutionalized prejudice challenges my pursuit of diversity. My experiences and advocacy as a neurodiverse woman of color in STEM underscore my commitment to fostering an inclusive and representative environment.
