The Network

ALBA represents a global diverse network of individual neuroscientists who are involved in research, education, communication and advocacy, and are committed to supporting and advocating for actions and policies that foster diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in brain sciences across the globe. We currently have 1890 individual members from 91 countries.

I joined ALBA because :
I want to advocate for more African researchers in neuroscience and to give existing ones more platforms to share their amazing work. We (as Africans) have unique contexts for both our research questions and for the research itself. For example, epilepsy is likely under-sampled in developing nations and has a different prevalence of aetiologies (e.g. tapeworms).

I joined ALBA because :
As a Colombian in neuroscience, I understand the barriers that underrepresented groups face in STEM. ALBA's commitment to equity and inclusivity aligns with my values. I think that creating awareness of these issues and providing spaces for discussion benefits society. I would love to be part of that initiative.
