I have been on Alba's mailing list for quite some time. I thoroughly enjoy the webinars and have also applied for the grant to attend FENS Forum 2024. Being part of a network that connects scientists from around the world and supports minorities sounds like a fantastic opportunity.

I have taken part in the Alba networking events in FENS forum 2022 in Paris, and the network mindset aligns well with my personality and research. I enjoyed the events and would like to take part more in the future.

I joined the ALBA network after a passionate session at the ECNP 2019. Promoting diversity and equality in brain science should be a goal for every researcher in our field.

I identify with ALBA's values and mission, especially in terms of diversity. This would bring me personal and professional development, and I could bring my experience as an Amazonian scientist to ALBA, as I already do as a student representative of the Brazilian Society of Neurosciences and Behavior.

I've heard about Alba for the very first time at IBRO's World Conference in Granada. There was a booth where some very intelligent women explained to me the whole purpose of Alba and that I should join it. Ever since I've been thinking about it. I think I belong to Alba because my committed nature has made me a very hard-working student and it has led me to leave the country to finish my Ph.D. outside my original country: Brazil. I was awarded a scholarship to live abroad for one year with all costs covered by the federal government. This is how much my country believes and invests in my education. Not everyone can say that where I come from. Also, I hope that in the future I can teach in Brazil everything I learned around the world and return all the investment spent on my education in the form of knowledge for future generations.

In conclusion, my path can be more difficult for being a woman, Latina, queer, from a middle-incoming country and many other difficulties, but I'm still making space for myself and for future female neuroscientists. If I can make it, they can make it too. However, nobody achieve great results alone and I think that's why I belong with Alba.

I’m a Master and PhD Student in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. I have been working on an investigation of oxidative stress, bioenergetics, mitochondrial quality control and interactions between mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum in different models of Huntington’s Disease and inherited metabolic disorders.

I am applying for ALBA membership to help boost my career as a neuroscientist in Brazil. At the institution I am part of, unfortunelly, there are few opportunities to exchange information or visit other laboratories, or even learn other techniques to implement here at our context, so I believe that ALBA could provide opportunities for my scientific enrichment.

I am joining ALBA to support the promotion of diversity in neuroscience and to apply for a Travel Fellowship to attend FENS Forum 2024.

There are few (if any) initiatives to promote equity and diversity in brain research in my country.

I first heard about Alba by a colleague and friend from my University. I became interested and researched about the Mission and goals of this community. I feel that this kind of network is really important in all areas, and I would like to join and be part of this community helping as much as I can to disseminate its valuble principles.

I believe that I need to do my part in order to make the field of neuroscience much more inclusive, but I am often doubtful about how to do it. Thus, listening to like-mended individuals, could help me be successful.

I'm joining the ALBA community because I believe that the network is the most valuable asset in science. We need to break down barriers within our field and share the scientific work that we are doing. As a result, being a part of the group may open my mind to different approaches in Neuroscience, as well as provide an opportunity to expand and share my knowledge.

To find other researchers/scientists who want to share our vision/ difficulties/ wins in doing research in a Latin country.

I am joining ALBA because I strongly believe in its mission to promote equity and diversity in the brain sciences. As a Brazilian and Latino researcher, I have experienced firsthand the challenges and barriers faced by underrepresented groups in this field. I want to be part of a community that actively works to empower diversity advocates, counter bias and discrimination, and provide professional development opportunities for neuroscientists from underrepresented backgrounds.

I am joining ALBA because I wholeheartedly believe in the importance of promoting equity and diversity in the field of brain sciences. ALBA's mission aligns with my values, and I am committed to contributing to this essential effort. I am particularly motivated to support underrepresented individuals in the scientific community, and I believe that ALBA's initiatives will help create a more inclusive and equitable environment for all brain scientists. By joining ALBA, I aim to actively participate in its activities, advocate for change, and work towards a future where everyone, regardless of their background, has equal opportunities to excel in the field of neuroscience.

Just found ir recently and I think is more than needed a more human and realistic discussion about the people that make science, which kind of bodies and people are represented and respected within it
