ALBA represents a global diverse network of individual neuroscientists who are involved in research, education, communication and advocacy, and are committed to supporting and advocating for actions and policies that foster diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in brain sciences across the globe. During my attendance at the IBRO congress in Granada, I had the opportunity to meet some of the ALBA network alumni. They spoke about the network and its mission, which captivated me. The fact that a minority can change the world of neuroscience and influence the careers of young neuroscientists is truly inspiring. As an individual from a third country, grants play a crucial role in my ability to attend scientific conferences all over the world. Unfortunately, my university and lab are unable to provide the necessary funds for such events.

I joined ALBA because :
I learned about the Alba network mission during the 9th meeting of the Mediterranean Society for Neuroscience held in Tunisia last week. Diversity, cultural bias, merit, and equity are very important to me and have affected my career in different ways, especially when I was based in Europe.
I think that joining the Alba network will enable me to represent the voice of African and Middle Eastern neuroscientists.
