For me diversity in general and especially for our favorite science (neuroscience) is what can actually drive breakthroughs. This is because, we humans, are diverse from our nature and as a result each individual is characterized by different backgrounds, experiences and beliefs, which in combination constitute creativity.

Professor or equivalent position at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
Greece Website
Gender : Woman
Fields of research :
Cellular and molecular neuroscience
Developmental neuroscience
Disorders of the nervous system
I joined ALBA because :
As a woman and young scientist, I feel that we have to support diversity and inclusivity in science and in particular in brain science. Having attended in the past few years several meetings and being part of many discussions about diversity and inclusivity I believe that we should all act towards that direction. ALBA network would be amongst the most suited to act on these matters and I would be honored to be part of this network.

I joined ALBA because :
Joining ALBA would maximize the means available for diversity and equality initiatives in academia and beyond via the contributions of an extended network of brain sciences professionals. As research is not a de-contextualized entity, acting with and raising awareness is crucial for promoting meaningful and much-needed societal change.

I joined ALBA because :
As a gay woman in a scientific community that lacks gender equality and LGBTQ representation is challenging enough besides the competition among scientists. Thus, acknowledging and confronting the stigma and discrimination, I strongly appreciate Alba’s efforts to improve the everyday experience of myself and colleagues in science.

I joined ALBA because :
As a FENS Kavli scholar alumni, the mission of ALBA is very close to my heart. I hope I can support its activities given my experience within the FKNE Network but also from being a woman, working in a field where women are highly underrepresented (Comp. Neuroscience) and in a country (Greece) where equality is still an issue not properly addressed at the highest levels of academia. My own Institute does not apply any gender equality policies and I would like to help change this.
